This publication is the product of a seminar and workshop organized in Tehran with the aim of reinitiating what was once a highly prolific dialogue between Austria and Iran. Renowned Austrian architects were invited to Tehran for this seminar in order to discuss—together with their fellow Iranian architects, some of whom were likewise educated in Europe—the influence of foreign architecture and architectural theory on Iran. One of the most prominent advocates of this exchange, Roland Rainer, felt that the traditional architectural language of Iran guaranteed, even for modern architecture, that the human scale would not be lost during the building process. This book was published in Arabic and English.
