curated by_vienna: art & film

curated by_vienna is a project that encourages systematic collaboration between galleries and curators. The content focus of curated by_vienna 2010, art&film, was trained on artistic works that make reference to film. Twenty international artists, invited by twenty galleries, presented a selection of different artistic positions. Considering that art and film have long been intertwined in manifold ways, are visual artists today still interested in the moving image and its representations?
The publication provides an overview of this complex structure of relations and encourages an extensive investigation of the topic “art&film.” Institutional frameworks are discussed, but also aesthetic time-space explorations and the quest for artistic and societal margins.
