The call for “affordable housing” rings out from all political camps before an election. Afterward, silence soon falls on the topic. The fact that architecture, and housing in particular, is an eminent political field becomes immediately clear when we examine the active circles, the tools, the funding measures, the award procedures, and other frameworkconditions within this segment. The association BauKultur Steiermark, along with a jury of five local and international experts, became immersed in the “contaminated” field of housing. The results of this field research are compiled in this volume.
