Collected Words and Images
The book surveys the additions to the collection under Sabine Folie’s leadership between 2008 and 2014. An ample and richly illustrated volume of photographs, essays, and source materials around the works acquired during this period, it contains texts, sources, and quotes as well as essays in which experts including Christine Blümlinger, Georges Didi-Huberman, Rachel Haidu, Elisabeth von Samsonow, Michael Newman, Anna Sigridur Arnar, Tom Holert, and Gabriele Mackert explore the various themes that define these works: the trope of the productive void since the dawn of modernism (Mallarmé), the reorganization of pictorial space, the changing roles of the artist and the museum in modernity, questions of globalization, postcolonialism, memorial culture, etc.
