Unerwünschtes Kino (‘unwanted cinema’)

About the design:

The complex network of relations between persons, films and spaces is presented through intersection of three different spatial dimensions: textile band installation stretched in the air, vinyl network sticker on the floor and showcase cubes standing in-between.

Light white fabric band installed on massive steel square bars lying on the floor or hanging in the air, creates a visuals of a movie tape and serves as a projection screen for 11 films.
MDF showcase cubes stands for each of 28 person and fits not only exhibits lying on the adjustable ground, but also as hides video projectors. The vinyl network of colourful lines in a „subway style”, connects each of the person (showcases) to the films they were involved in.

To „bridge” and navigates from the first to the second floor of the exhibition, the 15m long double- side printed fabric band hangs along the height of the whole staircase. The second floor, in rather minimalistic way, focus on two big film projections that oppose the fate of victims and survivors. Individual life paths of person are presented on singular, „cut” stripes and in black showcases standing assigned to exile locations.
