SELFWARE.surface

The first of the functional interventions opens at the facade of Palais Thienfeld. In cooperation with the Institute for Housing Construction + Design (Technical University Vienna), a temporary interface which can be used and lived in is being created between the interior and exterior. More than forty architecture students have developed and erected a vertical 1:1 intervention in that field of tension between the public and private spheres. Thienfeld’s character is hidden behind a superimposed structure: the product of a discourse between a quasi modular conception and a unique statement. Within the framework of SELFWARE.surface, the facade will be continuously developed an even used for performances for a time.

SELFWARE.surface was a part of the project SELFWARE.politics of identity in course of the culture capital Graz 2003.
